Resident artist Jea Alford presents "Undue Work", a live performance culminating her year-long performative body of work in which she has been collecting the timeslips from every shift worked in 2015 at her job as a restaurant hostess. When exposed to heat, the timeslips turn black due to a heat transfer printing process. During this live performance, Alford will be ironing approximately 50 timeslips, representing roughly 300 hours of work. This process both erases or undoes the clocked records of her past year's work, and transforms those hours of waged labor into hours spent in art making.
